As always a widespread failure should teach us something: in the end some companies disappear, some transform theirselfe and others ones become stronger.
Is AI the New Economy?
It is like one of the mass extinctions in Earth’s history, like the fourth in the Triassic Era 200 million years ago, when 80% of living species disappeared. Or like the last, in the Cretaceous 66 million years ago when together to 75% of the existing species disappeared the dinosaurs, as well. Some species disappeared completely, others ones survived, others evolved differently occupying the evolutionary niches that until then had been occupied by species that had become extinct.
Well, what happened in March 2000 was the mass extinction of many public companies that based their business model on the web, which had been born a few years ago. These were the years in which the New Economy began, and the web-based companies were called DotCom companies.
Since the beginning of 2023 we have been witnessing the explosion of Artificial Intelligence, since chatGPT entered the public domain and use. A large number of AI-based applications have been created but today we can’t ask to AI how it can build teleportation or a cure for cancer.
